Reform UK will reduce government waste in Surrey
Waste within SCC has scope for improvement. One significant source of wastage is the quantity of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) officers that monitor recruitment and promotion of staff within organisations.
The fire service is a prime example of this DEI wastage within Surrey. Why don’t they concentrate on putting out fires and helping to ensure that they don’t occur in the first place?
Equity and equality, while often used interchangeably, have distinct implications. Equality means providing opportunities to everyone. Equity, at the heart of DEI, involves removing opportunities. This approach is problematic and undermines meritocracy. Equity needs to be removed. Performance needs to be prioritised above diversity. Reform UK will aim to scrap all DEI roles while still ensuring that equality is maintained.
