Reform UK will preserve the environment in Surrey

February 14, 2025

Reform UK’s policies for Surrey may be summarised as follows:

– Cancel SCC’s climate emergency declaration. This would make it much more difficult for the government to impose inappropriate development in Surrey.

– Preserve Surrey’s landscape by banning the development of wind turbines and solar farms. This would make it more difficult for the government to override local objections.

– Slow down the replacement of SCC’s fleet of vehicles by EVs. SCC would save our money by retaining ICEs for a longer period.

Reform UK aren’t “climate change deniers” and support a more measured policy to reduce CO 2 emissions. The best place for solar panels is on the roofs of houses and other buildings and SCC should continue to encourage this. Once SCC’s infrastructure is in place, EVs probably won’t cost more than ICEs in the long term and they will also reduce pollution. Finally, Reform UK strongly support SCC’s existing plans to complete the planting of 1.2 million trees by 2030.
